OpenFarm Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 1, 2026
This policy describes how the OpenFarm service at openfarm.science.org.pk collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the service.
Information OpenFarm handles
When you sign in with Google, OpenFarm receives and stores your Google account name, email address, and profile image so it can authenticate you and associate your account with your OpenFarm workspace. OpenFarm uses Google sign-in only; it does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, or your contacts.
OpenFarm also stores information you provide or create in the service, such as workspace, farm and field names, field boundaries and coordinates, crop and field details, scouting observations, notes, and photos or other files you upload. Technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as request times and diagnostic or access logs, may also be processed.
How information is used
Account information is used to sign you in, maintain your session, and show your identity to members of your workspace. Farm and field information is used to provide mapping, field management, weather, soil, and crop-monitoring features, and to secure and maintain the service.
OpenFarm sign-in sessions may remain active for up to 30 days, subject to your browser settings and sign-out activity.
Google user data
OpenFarm uses the Google account name, email address, and profile image returned during sign-in only to authenticate you and operate your OpenFarm account. OpenFarm does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models. Google user data is not sent to OpenFarm’s weather, soil, or satellite-data providers.
Service providers and sharing
This OpenFarm instance is hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States (US East, Ohio). Its application database and file storage run on the hosting server. Google processes sign-in requests when you choose Google sign-in.
To provide environmental analysis, OpenFarm may send field locations or boundary areas to data services such as Open-Meteo, ISRIC SoilGrids, and Copernicus or Element 84 Earth Search. These services return weather, soil, or satellite information. Their processing is subject to their own privacy terms. OpenFarm does not include your Google profile details in those data requests.
Workspace information is available to members according to their OpenFarm roles. If you create a read-only share link, people who have that link may be able to view the shared field report. OpenFarm does not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or to protect the service and its users.
Storage and security
Information for this instance is stored on its AWS-hosted server, including in its database and file-storage services. OpenFarm uses HTTPS for connections and role-based access controls within workspaces. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Retention and deletion
OpenFarm keeps account and workspace information while it is needed to provide and protect the service. Farms, fields, and workspaces marked as deleted are soft-deleted; items marked deleted in the app may remain in the database until the operator removes them.
To request deletion of your account information or other data, email amjadshahzad@live.com. Requests are handled manually. We may retain information when needed to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or protect the service.
Cookies and session information
OpenFarm uses necessary browser session information to keep you signed in and protect authenticated features. You can sign out or clear site data through your browser; doing so may sign you out of OpenFarm.
Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when OpenFarm’s data practices change. The current version and effective date will be posted on this page. For privacy questions or deletion requests, contact amjadshahzad@live.com.
